How a fact moves from a source system to a sentence in a meeting, and where it changes meaning on the way.
Source-to-report lineage
Every number in a meeting has a path. Lineage is that path written down: source, transformation, measure, visual, decision. The usable-measures note is the short version.
Architecture
My undergraduate degree is in information systems. Architecturally I care about boundaries: what each layer is allowed to decide, and which layer owns a definition. A picture of a platform is not an architecture until those boundaries are named.
Data flows
Flows are where operational reality leaks. An interface that drops a status, a spreadsheet that re-keys a remittance, a nightly job nobody owns. I look for those breaks before I look for a new warehouse.
Transformation layers
Transformations are where definitions hide. Two SQL expressions can both be valid and still answer different questions. The layer should make that choice readable.
Semantic models
A semantic model is a contract about grain, relationships, and measure logic. Power BI is where I teach that contract. The contract matters more than the product that hosts it.
Reporting
Reporting layers should be boring in the best way: stable definitions, obvious filters, and a visual that matches the decision. Novelty in a weekly operating report is usually a defect.
Governance
Governance, practically, is knowing who can change a definition and how everyone else finds out. I do not present a governance framework as a certification.
CI/CD concepts
This website is built by a small deterministic pipeline: source, a Python build, a validator, and Netlify. That is a modest public example of continuous delivery, not a claim that I run an enterprise release train. The habit I care about is the same one as a measure: the output should be reproducible from the source.
Modern data-platform concepts
Warehouses, semantic layers, and orchestrated transformations are concepts I use to reason about lineage and ownership. A diagram of a specific production platform I have operated is not part of this public portfolio yet.
